The thrill of cattle ranching, small town politics, acres of rolling hills and mountains in the distance, and complex character arcs in Yellowstone has attracted a huge fan base, including us. After investing in the Yellowstone TV series since the beginning of season one, we are eagerly anticipating the last episodes of Season 5 releasing on November 10. To help pass the time from now until the finale, our team compiled a few cocktails inspired by the show. Join us as we reflect on this rugged story from start to finish with these Yellowstone Cocktails.
Yellowstone TV Cocktails
The Brand
The ‘Y’ of Yellowstone Ranch represents more than a letter. The loyalty between the Dutton family (well, most of them) and the ranch hands (again, most of them) is not something to be messed with–a message that multiple characters found out too late. Show your dedication to the show and the family with a ‘Y’ branded onto a delicious bourbon cocktail.
- 1.5 oz Flying Ace Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- .5 oz blood orange liqueur
- .25 oz lime juice
- 1 dash orange bitters
- Cinnamon powder
- Egg whites
Combine Flying Ace Straight Whiskey Bourbon, blood orange liqueur, and lime juice into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until chilled. Strain the cocktail shaker contents into the Old Fashioned glass. Add foamed egg whites on top. Use a ‘Y’ stencil to sprinkle cinnamon powder on your cocktail in the shape of the Yellowstone TV brand. Garnish with a mint leaf.
The Train Station
For characters who fell out of the Dutton’s favor, the Train Station was a one-way trip down a very steep cliff. This cocktail captures the adrenaline of going to the Train Station without any of the negative bodily effects.
- 2 oz Flying Ace Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- .5 oz Amaro Nonino
- .25 oz cherry liqueur
- .25 oz smoked simple syrup
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- Flamed orange peel, garnish
- Brandied cherry, garnish
For the smoked simple syrup:
Combine smoked sugar and water (1:1) in a pan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves. Let it steep for a few minutes. Strain the syrup and let it cool.
For the cocktail:
Combine Flying Ace Straight Whiskey Bourbon, Amaro Nonino, cherry liqueur, orange bitters, and smoked simple syrup in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until chilled. Strain into an old fashioned glass with ice. Hold the orange peel over the drink and light it on fire briefly, then squeeze the peel to express the oils over the drink. Add the orange peel to the drink. Garnish with a brandied cherry.
Snake Eyes
The only person who can make “Snake Eyes” sound wonderful is Walker (AKA Ryan Bingham) in Season 3, Episode 9, so we decided to make a cocktail just as intricate, layered, and moody as his song.
- 2 oz Flying Ace Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- .5 oz coffee liqueur
- .25 oz Ancho Reyes Chili Liqueur
- .25 demerara syrup
- 2 dashes mole bitters
- Orange peel
- Smoked cinnamon stick, garnish
Combine ingredients in a mixing glass while stirring gently. Strain into a rocks glass over ice. Express orange peel oils and add it to the drink. Lightly torch a cinnamon stick so that it starts to smoke, then add to the cocktail.
Buckle Bunny
The Buckle Bunnies in the show, Mia and Laramie, are “groupies” for rodeo riders. Their presence reminds us of the excitement, energy, and one-of-a-kind experiences at rodeos, especially for Jimmy. In honor of the fun rodeo atmosphere, this cocktail has a touch of sweetness.
- 2 oz Flying Ace Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- 1 oz Thatcher’s Organic Peach Liqueur
- .5 oz lemon juice
- .25 oz honey syrup
- 1 dash Angostura bitters
- Sparkling wine, to top
- Peach slice, garnish
Combine Flying Ace Straight Whiskey Bourbon, peach liqueur, lemon juice, honey syrup, and bitters in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until chilled. Strain into a highball glass. Top with sparkling wine. Garnish with a peach slice.
Four Sixes
While the ranch is mentioned in this beloved fictional TV show, the Four Sixes has actually been in operation since 1870. The Texas horse and cattle ranch is where Jimmy, our villain-turned-favorite-side-character, found his true love and freedom from his past. This cocktail is reminiscent of a boozy cold glass of lemonade after a long day’s work at the ranch.
- 2 oz Flying Ace Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- 4 oz lemonade
- .5 oz honey
- 3 mint leaves
- Club soda
- Lemon wheel, garnish
Muddle the mint leaves with honey in a cocktail shaker. Add Flying Ace Straight Whiskey Bourbon, and lemonade with ice. Shake until chilled. Strain into a mason jar. Add a splash of club soda and garnish with a lemon wheel.
The Bunkhouse
The Bunkhouse is home to the ranch hands of Yellowstone. This was often the site where our favorite side characters played cards, enjoyed whiskey and beer, and occasionally got into fights. This bourbon cocktail reminds us of spending time with close friends, late nights, and a healthy level of banter.
- 2 oz Flying Ace Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- .5 oz maple syrup
- .25 oz coffee liqueur
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Smoked salt, to rim
- Orange peel
Combine Flying Ace Straight Whiskey Bourbon, maple syrup, coffee liqueur, and bitters in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until chilled. Run the orange peel around the rim of a rocks glass. Dip the rim of the rocks glass into smoked salt. Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass with ice. Express the orange peel over the glass, then add it to the cocktail.
Paradise Valley
A heavenly cocktail for all the 1883 fans. This series stars Tim McGraw as James Dutton, Faith Hill as Margaret Dutton, and Isabel May as their daughter, Elsa. The family’s journey west is filled with trials and tribulations that explain Yellowstone’s background. We don’t want to spoil the show for anyone, so we won’t say anything else.
- 2 oz Flying Ace Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- .5 oz smoked simple syrup
- .5 oz Aperol
- .25 oz lemon juice
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Lemon peel
- Rosemary sprig, garnish
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass while gently stirring. Strain into an Old Fashioned glass with ice. Express oils from lemon peel over the drink, then add the lemon peel to the glass. Garnish with a rosemary sprig.
